The Mary Robinson Centre is a Centre for Change - a focal point for schools, the Irish public and for tourists to see and understand Mary’s legacy. Located in Ballina, Co. Mayo in the childhood home of Ireland’s first female President, a large part of the displays in the house will be dedicated to educating visitors on the key themes and issues of Mary Robinson’s legacy as an influential world leader from the West of Ireland.
Key in this will be Mary’s campaigning on climate change and her roles with the UN and the Elders in driving action across the world on human rights, gender equality, women in leadership and climate change. Mary’s vision for the Centre is that it will be a place that will inspire those who visit to personal action in addressing key issues facing society today.
The Centre is a partnership between the local community, Mayo County Council and the University of Galway.
