Museum
A unique cultural tourism attraction for Mayo, visitors to The Mary Robinson Centre will have the opportunity to learn more about Mary Robinson’s life and work, including her early life in Ballina. Parts of the 19th Century Georgian house will be recreated in their original condition at the time of Mary’s birth in 1944 and the addition of a new and contemporary wing will house the extensive archive and educational facility. Set within this context, Mary’s archive, with personal diaries, working files and records charting her career, along with speeches, manuscripts and items of note relating to her time as President of Ireland, will relate the contribution Mary has made to society in Ireland and across the world as a human rights and women’s equality champion.
