Interwoven / Fite Fuaite is a collaborative project led by Project Dandelion in association with The Mary Robinson Centre.
The project brings this vision to life through story and stitch — a quilt made up of squares from climate and nature groups across Ireland and Northern Ireland. Each square represents a unique effort, from land restoration to education, and together they form a powerful symbol of solidarity and hope. |

In the Climate Hub in Ballina, County Mayo, threads and fabric came alive under the careful guidance of our seamstress, Monika. Under the banner of hope and action, 51 organisations from across Ireland and Northern Ireland each took a square of cotton. With stitches, paint, and patchwork, they captured their missions, their landscapes, their values – the quiet work of land restoration, education, protection of nature, and climate justice.
Interwoven / Fite Fuaite embodies 51 of Ireland’s diverse voices and a shared commitment to a sustainable future.
On Monday the 3rd November, The Mary Robinson Centre hosted the launch of Interwoven / Fite Fuaite.
Representatives from all 51 groups gathered in the Climate Hub at the Mary Robinson Centre, to celebrate this tapestry of hope and to mark the beginning of its journey to COP30. The quilt has journeyed from Ballina in County Mayo to Belém, Brazil, where it was presented at COP30, carrying with it the voices, values, and visions of communities across the island of Ireland.
Each patch is unique – and yet, each is connected. In stitching their squares, groups made visible what is often unseen: the daily, persistent, local work that roots communities, restores nature, and builds resilience. Together, the patches were woven into something collective — a symbol that carries not just cloth, but voices.

As Interwoven departs from Ireland, the projects organisers look to the future.
'We realised through this project that there were groups working away in their own locality who had no idea that others were doing the same in the next county. We want to create an online database of these projects- an online tapestry- so they could see how influencial and strong they were together' - Laura Cook |
ABOUT PROJECT DANDELION
|
Project Dandelion is a growing movement uniting women around the world to act for climate justice. Inspired by the resilience of the dandelion - regenerative, nourishing, and wildly expansive - we believe that collective action, rooted in care and courage, can drive the urgent change our planet needs.
"We are Dandelions for a reason. We are inspired by the resilience of the Dandelion. Its roots are regenerative of soil, all parts of the Dandelion can be consumed, and it spreads by blowing in the wind. It has one goal - to seed more dandelions. |
|
That is our goal too. This is the issue of our time, because every issue we care about is a climate and nature issue. We need everyone to join us to pressure our leaders to do more, with more urgency. We are building a chorus of voices that will help us to reach and motivate 2 billion people to act for Climate Justice – join us!"
