The Mary Robinson Climate Conference Exhibition, July 2023
Climate change is the defining social, economic, and existential influence of our time, and each of us responds to the challenge in ways both diverse and unique. This July, the Mary Robinson Climate Conference in Ballina, hosted by the Mary Robinson Centre, University of Galway, Ballina 2023 and Mayo County Council, supported by IPB Insurance, will bring together voices from all sectors of academia and society to share climate experiences and our collective visions for a sustainable future. As a key component of this event, we are inviting regional artists to contribute pieces that explore the themes central to the Climate Conference:
‘What we stand to lose to Climate Change’ and ‘The human response to the Climate Crisis’.
‘What we stand to lose to Climate Change’ and ‘The human response to the Climate Crisis’.
The Venue
The exhibition will be hosted in the Ballina Civic Offices Gallery, which is one of a range of venues hosting conference proceedings. This purpose-built exhibition venue includes extensive wall display space and the possibility of housing sculptural pieces. The Mary Robinson Climate Conference (6th–7th July) is the culmination of a week-long international sustainability assembly; as such, we anticipate the art exhibition will hang for the duration of that week. Support for installation and disassembly will be provided.
The Exhibition
We seek contributions from across a broad and representative swathe of our regional community. As the conference will feature scheduled viewing/meeting periods, we are particularly keen to invite artists who are keen to interact directly with conference delegates and the broader public, and who wish to incorporate their unique vantage into the global discussion on climate change.
